Porcelain Crowns Costs and Payment Options

Lake Mary Porcelain Crowns Costs

by Steven J. Hochfelder DMD

Lake Mary Porcelain Crowns CostsA tooth that has been damaged by decay or injury compromises a patient’s oral functions, may cause discomfort or pain, and leaves surrounding teeth vulnerable to damage. For these reasons, it is vital that a damaged tooth be treated in order to restore it to its natural state of strength and function. For a tooth with moderate to severe damage, the most likely treatment is a dental crown. A dental crown encases the tooth to replace decayed enamel and provide a layer of protection to the natural tooth.

While there are many types of dental crowns available, cosmetic dentist Steven J. Hochfelder recommends all porcelain crowns. For his Lake Mary patients, porcelain crown costs are slightly higher than alternate crown materials but they provide superior strength and aesthetics. Our staff will calculate the costs of porcelain crowns treatment and help patients determine the most convenient payment option.

Costs of Porcelain Crowns

Dental treatments do not come with a universal price tag. Each treatment is customized to meet the individual patient’ unique needs. As such, the same treatment may vary in price for two different patients. Some of the factors that affect the cost of porcelain crowns treatment include the extent of damage on the tooth, the size of the porcelain crown, and the location of the tooth that is being treated. With all of the variables of treatment, there is a large price range for porcelain crowns treatment. A porcelain crown may cost anywhere from $800 to $3,000 per tooth, with the average cost of a single porcelain crown being $1,500. While this is a significant expense, the porcelain crown should last for up to 10 years. In addition, by treating the problem, many patients are able to avoid the need for more costly dental treatments down the line.

Payment Options

There are many payment options available that help make porcelain crowns treatment more affordable for our patients. For patients with dental insurance, our staff will always determine applicable coverage first so that a patient’s out of pocket expense can be determined. When being placed for health reasons, porcelain crowns often qualify for insurance coverage. While the exact coverage will vary by each provider, on average, about 50 percent of the porcelain crown cost will be paid by insurance. For the remaining expenses (or for those patients without insurance), there are additional payment options to consider. We do accept credit payments, including personal credit cards or medical credit cards. Patients may also consider personal or medical loans that allow for a monthly payment plan and often do not require an initial down payment. Many employers are now offering flex spending accounts that allow employees to set aside money from their paycheck to be used for medical and dental expenses. Our staff is happy to discuss all of these options with patients in further detail so that a convenient and affordable payment option can be determined.
